A chit's yearly list of nonsense

How To: Make Facebook cover with PicMonkey’s Collage Feature

Monday I gave myself extra time to edit some posts and to finally finish my sidebars but I got sucked into a veritable time hole and didn’t emerge until I had made a couple of Facebook covers.  I think I’ve been clear how much I like PicMonkey (I feel like I gush about it online and to anyone that will listen).  I was away when they unleashed the new collage feature and had to wait to really start tinkering with it. Tinker I did. Collages galore.  I don’t want to get distracted but you can make all sorts of styles and it’s so easy.

Speaking of easy here’s a few tips about making your Facebook covers

Edit each picture individually

Sure this adds more steps and is not necessary but I like the idea of adding effects and text to each picture before attacking it as a whole.

Upload all the pictures you want to use

Don’t worry you don’t have to use them all or can add more to the mix.

In this case there are a few presets sized to fit as a cover photo perfectly. You can move the shapes around and resize them. I prefer a bigger photo on the left because it will be hidden a bit by your profile pick.

extra step

Save as a picture and then re-edit to add textures and especially text. I love using textures to tie everything together and text to add sayings or websites across the length.

upload and enjoy fresh look

If you’re updating your fan page you could even add QR codes to special posts or recent events related to site. But I would double-check Facebook’s policy on it before you added anything they might consider advertising.

Okay I shared two I did plus I’m working on a new fan page one myself. Once you try it out share it over on my page. And if you haven’t already liked PicMonkey on Facebook check them out.

    • Hi Allegra!

Yes PicMonkey is a great tool like Picnik and there seem to be a lot of different ones out there now. For the most part I like Timeline too especially because it’s much more visual now!

      Thanks for stopping by C

  2. I just found PicMonkey a couple of days ago but I love it already. I wasted an hour or two playing with it over the weekend. Thanks for the tips on creating the FB Covers, I just made one but I didn’t do it with their templates, now I wish I would have.
